Organic Farm NZ (Waikato) Fieldtrip

Wednesday 24 October

Everyone  is welcome

10.30am Meet at Pacific Biofert factory 21 Irish Road, Pokeno (www.biofert.co.nz) and visit them for about 1 hour. The trip from Hamilton to the factory is about 1¼ hrs. Biofert produces fertilisers that have been biologically activated. Their products have been certified with Biogro for 25 years.

12.00am – 1.00pm Travel from Biofert to Earthtalk at 60 Kauri Road, Awhitu (www.awhitu.co.nz). Tanya Cumberland and Charmaine Pountney (along with family and friends) have been developing 28 acres since 1992, using sustainability and permaculture principles. They produce food as well as grow trees for wood and environmental reasons.

1.00pm – 1.30pm  A shared lunch at Earthtalk. They will provide tea, coffee and cold drinks. Cost is $15.00pp for drinks and the tour.

1.30pm – 3.30pm Guided tour around Earthtalk’s property

Living Streets Sunday Strolls

October-November 2012

All walks start at 2pm, Sunday afternoons. Bring raincoats, sunscreen, drinks and comfortable walking shoes.

October 28  AJ Seeley Gully and Te Aroha St – Parana Park round trip. Allow 60-90 minutes. Park in the cul-de-sac end of Armagh St, behind Hamilton Boys’ High School (off Argyle, off Te Aroha St).

 November 4  Munro Reserve - Te Hikuwai walkway – Pukete Bridge –Delamare Rd to the “pipe bridge” and back to our starting point. Allow 60-90 minutes. Park in River Rd across from Alandale retirement village, or in Discovery Drive or Commodore Drive. Meet at the entry to the Munro Reserve, at the roundabout linking River Rd, Discovery Drive and Commodore Drive. A pedestrian underpass goes under River Rd from Commodore Drive to the reserve

 November 11  Waiwhakareke (Horseshoe Lake). Allow 60-90 minutes. Park and meet at the overflow carpark directly opposite the entrance to the Hamilton Zoo in Brymer Rd. The path into the reserve starts at the end of the carpark.

November 18  Malcolm St – Riverlea Rd riverbank walk, including Hammond Park. Allow 60-90 minutes. Park in Howell Avenue and meet at the intersection of Howell Ave and Johnsview Tce.  Contact person: Judy McDonald  07 8552019
