YOUTH MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT

I would like to invite the youth (16-18 years of age inclusive) community you work with to seek the nomination to become my Youth Member of Parliament for the period January 2016 to July 2016. This is an exciting opportunity for a young Hamiltonian to engage in politics. Applicants must:

• be 16 – 18 years of age (inclusive) at the time of selection as a Youth Member of Parliament

• be active in the community

• be passionate about youth issues, politics and/or social change

• be able to seek the views, opinions and ideas of their peers and represent these at Youth Parliament 2016

• be committed to contributing their best to the Youth Parliament 2016. This commitment includes being able to attend Youth Parliament in July 2016 (during the school holidays).

This year I have decided to select my Youth Parliament representative by inviting video submissions for interested young people.

Please can you circulate the attached information and invitation to students who qualify?

I am available to visit your community to discuss this opportunity with both staff and youth. Please contact my office on 07 839 680307 839 6803 to set up a time.

I am looking forward to original, creative and innovative submissions from your students.

Yours sincerely

Sue Moroney Hamilton-based Labour List MP

INTERESTED IN CYCLING FOR TRANSPORT?

Happy to get involved more and volunteer some time?

The Hamilton Bicycle Network (HBN) Board of Trustees is a small group of passionate people working to promote safe, pleasurable transport by bicycle.

The key focus of the Trust has been on delivering defensive cycling courses designed to prepare one to cycle confidently in all traffic environments. We also plan to promote cycling for transport with workplaces and other organisations.

We need more trustees and are looking for enthusiastic cycling supporters. In particular we are looking for people with any of the following skills: treasurer, marketing, fund raising/grant application and graphics. Trustees would ideally be available for six meetings per year.

For more information on HBN visit www.HBN.co.nz
